Blogging again!

Well I was reading a thread on a forum, asking what comes up when you google yourself and I found my blog :) So I have spent the last while reading over it and wishing I had stuck out the photo-a-day thing... It's actually great now to look back and remember all those little things. Next year I will get back into it and hopefully stick it out for more than 1.5 months! What a pathetic effort that was.

It's been so busy over here since I last posted.... lets see...
we went to Central Oz and drove around in a campervan (a 4WD pop-top) in April :)
We saw Pink in June and I got some fabulous photos of her.
We enjoyed Central Oz so much that we went to Western Australia in July, got another campervan and explored the Kimberleys. Now that was awesome! The places were so remote and you really were in the middle of nowhere.

Then in August I got pregnant, and I am currently 19 weeks, baby is due in April. This pregnancy has been an absolute breeze so far, and I hope it continues along that path! I had hardly any morning sickness. From about week 6 through to week 11 I would feel a little bit "off" in the afternoon and lost my appetite for dinner. Which Trav loved because he essentially had 2 dinners every night hahaha. I also couldn't stand broccoli or cauliflower and have gone off teas and coffee, but no real sickness to speak of.
We had our 12 week scan and it was great to see it moving around, waving it's little stick arms and kicking its little stick legs! hahaha.
Next scan is coming up in just under 2 weeks. I will be having the 18-19 week U/S at almost 21 weeks, but Trav wanted to be there for it, and they were happy to push it back.

It's all been happening over here!
Trav is currently in Germany on holidays, went over for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, and is catching up with some old friends along the way. He has been gone for a week and will be back next week.
So for now, it's me and the dogs at home and it's actually been quite nice! As soon as I got home I start cooking dinner, and as there are no station pick-ups to interrupt I have eaten and cleaned up the kitchen by 6:30 :) Which means a lovely, relaxing night and early bedtimes!
Of course, I am looking fwd to him coming back home next week, as it's pretty hard to have interesting conversations with the dogs. They are great listeners, but don't really contribute to the conversation much at all.

Speaking of the dogs, the toe and elbow WEREN'T the only dramas for Onlsow for the year. That bloody toe will be the death of me! They cut the cyst out, and it was healing beautifully until the stitches came out. Then he decided to lick it. And lick it. And lick it some more. So much so that it went feral and turned into a "Granuloma" which required us putting a special, disgustingly potent solution on it.

That didn't work, so he had a few cortisone injections and they didnt work, so it got cut out AGAIN. We had to keep it bandaged for a few months so it would heal without him licking it. It was fine up until last month but he started up again and it's doing my head in. Next step is to amputate the toe, but after having been under general anesthetic EIGHT times in the 4 years of his life, I really dont want it to come to that.

Apart from the toe, he also had another brush with death at the end of July when we got back from WA. Poor boy ended up with bloat!! We rushed him to the vet at 7:30am, he was rushed into emergency surgery and it was a case of "we dont know if he will survive the op".

His stomach had started twisting on itself, cutting of circulation and causing huge amounts of pain. So they ended up removing his spleen as it was damaged so much, and they had to cut open the stomach to relive the gas and the blockage, and then it was sewen in place.

He survived that, but the crucial period was the days after the op, where the toxins are released from the dead parts of the stomach and could result in death from toxic shock. He was left in hospital for 3 days with 2 drips. One was his fluids, the other was a concoction of antibiotics directly into the blood stream. He did get a bit of a temperature on day 2, which wasn't a good sign, but he's a fighter and he bounced back.

He now has to have ALL his food mashed up with warm water. NO more broccoli stems, carrot ends, or bits of dropped vegetables for Onslow anymore! Good thing we now have a Food organics bin!

Well I WAS going to upload pics, but it seems like such an ordeal now with this mammoth post. I will put them all up in the next post. Either tonight or over the weekend :) Lets see how long this sudden new-found interest in my blog lasts! I give it a few months :P
